Incheon Tri-Bowl

인천 트라이-볼은 건축 공간의 일반적 이해를 뒤집어 놓은 것이다. 평평한 바닥에 벽과 천창의 변화를 이용해 만들어지는 건축 공간과는 달리 평평한 천정 밑에 자유로운 곡면의 바닥으로 만들어졌다. 이 기념관은 일차적으로 전시공간으로 사용되는데, 계획 초기에 넓은 천정을 전시면으로 사용하기로 해 바닥에 변화를 준 것이다. LED전구로 천정면을 만들어 다양한 정보의 표현을 가능토록 했다. 이 구조물은 장방형의 수경(reflecting pond) 위에 떠 있고 관람객들은 긴 브리지를 통해 구조물의 밑을 지나 진입하게 된다. 구조물 내에 건축 마감은 쉘구조(shell body)와 구별되고 또 분리된 경량구조와 투명한 재질로 만들어졌다. 방문객들의 동선은 들어가고 올라가고 돌고 건너고 내려가는 식의 연속된 입체 곡선의 궤적 속에 있다. 내부공간은 크게 전시?공연공간과 휴게실 등의 서비스 공간, 사무공간 등으로 구성된다. 전시?공연공간은 400여명을 수용할 수 있고, 천정 구조물에 매달린 전시물을 방문객들은 입체적 곡선의 궤적을 따라 움직이면서 관람할 수 있다. 쉘구조의 하부는 자유 곡면, 그 상부는 원뿔의 곡면으로 구성되어 대부분 일방향 곡면을 이룬다. 하부는 콘크리트로 노출되고 일방향 곡면은 알루미늄패널로 마감된다. 구조물과 건축공간의 자유 곡면은 컴퓨터 3차원 프로그램이 아니고는 정확한 계획이 불가능한 것이었다. 건설과정 또한 shop drawing이나 재료의 정확한 절단을 위해서는 컴퓨터의 도움은 절대적으로 필요하다.

The Incheon Tri-bowl is started with the idea being against to general thoughts about architecture. It is composed of a curved floor with a flat roof instead of a flat floor with a curved roof of general architecture. This memorial hall is basically used for exhibitions and is designed to have a wide ceiling for those exhibitions. LED lambs, composing the ceiling, make different information available on those at any times. The structure is floating on a rectangular reflection pond and patrons will be entering it through a long bridge passing underneath of the mass. The interior was finished with a transparent material and also a lightweight structure with being separated to the shell body. The circulation of patrons is in the trace of a continuous cubic curve which is making multiple actions like circling, going up and down and etc. There are service space consisted of rooms for exhibition, performance and rest as well as office space. The exhibition and performance space can accept about 400 people and the patrons can see the exhibits hanging from the ceiling through the trace of a cubic curve. It is mainly a one-way curved surface from a free curve and a conic curve under the shell body. The exterior is finished with exposed concrete on the lower part of the shell while the upper part of the shell is finished with aluminimum panels.
